It was such an amazing honour to win a Sony Alpha wedding category twice in a row, in 2024 and again in 2025. I'm still pretty chuffed about it.
I love Sony products. I was a Canon shooter for a good decade, but I switched systems around ten years ago and honestly never looked back. These days I shoot on A7R series bodies with GM Sony lenses, and that combo has been my happy place ever since.
The winning image this year was a special photo of the bride and groom with grandma. These sorts of moments are so important on a wedding day... the family connection, the love, the people who've been there your whole life sharing in your joy.
Grandma was so full of emotion in this frame. The bride and groom leaning in to kiss her on each cheek, her hands clasped together, that look on her face... it gets me every time. This is exactly what I strive for on a wedding day: the deep bond we have with family, captured as a keepsake you'll treasure forever.
I'm so glad the judge loved this image as much as I do.
The finalist image in the same category was from an epic night of fun. We went out with the bridal party late at night to let off some champagne, and the groomsmen had the great idea to aim it at the couple... so everyone really did get pretty wet, haha! It was super fun and we all had a great laugh. If you want to do something like this on your wedding night, it's fantastic... but maybe save it for the very end of the evening. ;)
