About Two Little Starfish
An artist who loves
capturing people's stories.
The secret to great wedding photography isn't a shot list... it's knowing when to let life happen, and when to step in and make something beautiful. I do both, and I genuinely love both. I'm always in the thick of your day, laughing with your guests, picking up on the little moments everyone else misses, and having a good time doing it. I also know how to make you look stunning in a portrait, how to find the light, and how to make the whole thing feel easy rather than cookie cutter and stiff. Wedding days are intense and fast and wonderfully chaotic, and couples tell me that one of their favourite things was how calm and easy the whole experience felt, even when everything around them was moving at full speed. More than anything, I want to get to know you... who you are, how you love, what makes your story yours. Because the best photographs don't just record a wedding. They tell the story of two real people, and every love story deserves to be told well.
Rachel Jordan · Lead Photographer Rachel Jordan
Capturing what matters most.
Hello, I'm Rachel - photographer, storyteller, and endlessly curious human. After shooting hundreds of weddings, it remains the driving force of my life. I'm a people watcher at heart - always looking for the things everyone else misses: a parent's expression breaking into tears, a hand squeezed under the table, the light that arrives for exactly four seconds and then disappears forever.
Before weddings took centre stage, I spent many years travelling all over the world, capturing portraits of people in the moment. Street photography style: unposed, real, the kind of frames that only happen when you're present and paying attention. That same way of seeing is what I bring to your wedding day.
A few years ago, a helicopter accident during a wedding shoot left me with a serious spinal injury that made headlines in New Zealand. Through hard work and sheer determination, I regained much of my mobility - and weddings became the driving force behind my recovery. I am forever grateful to be doing what I love.
When I'm not behind the camera, you'll find me mountain biking with my son, tending to my garden, or deep in a video game. Basically - finding cool adventures, whether through a lens, on a bike, or in a game.
I take on a limited number of weddings each year, which means I can give every couple the care and attention they truly deserve. I'd love to hear your story. Contact me.

Husband & Fellow Storyteller
As an artist myself, I came to the photography medium through my wife Rachel - she trained me, pushed me, and somewhere along the way I developed my own eye for it. What stuck was the same thing that drives her: the ability to read a room, feel when a moment is about to happen, and be ready when it does. I shoot from different angles and perspectives, finding the frame that complements what she's capturing - and because our styles are cut from the same cloth, everything comes together as one unified look. You'd never know it came from two sets of hands.
On the video side, storytelling is where I live. Editing, pacing, finding the emotional thread through a full day and turning it into something people actually want to watch - that's what I do. Between the two of us, nothing gets missed. See our video work →
Why hire us
Why hire us to capture your wedding
You get us - no associates
When you book Two Little Starfish, you get us - 100% of the time. We're the ones you meet with, plan with, and the ones who show up on your day. We don't hire associates or hand your wedding to someone else. We treat your wedding as a relationship, not a transaction. If we're already booked for your date, we'd rather refer you to someone we trust than send an associate. We only take on a limited number of weddings each year by design, so we can pour everything into your story and give you the best of what we create. When you book us, you're welcoming us into your story - and we don't take that lightly.
We are epic storytellers
We don't follow a script or a shot list. Your day is unique, and we're here to tell that story... the real laughs, the quiet moments, and the beautiful portraits you'll want on your wall. We believe in epic storytelling, going the extra distance, and making sure you're happy... helping you stay relaxed and actually enjoy the flow of your day. That means finding the right balance too, so you're not spending your entire wedding in front of a camera.
Want to dig into why we shoot this way? We wrote about how we combine real moments with cinematic intention so you get both authenticity and images you'll love for life.

Documentary soul.
+ artistic heart.
Documentary
at heart
For the most part I take a hands-off approach on the day, blending in with your friends and family to capture the most authentic moments possible. The genuine, unrehearsed ones that unfold when you're fully present and enjoying your day.
Mastery of
light & shadow
Light and shadow are my paintbrush. Years of experience with both natural and professional lighting means I can create mood, tension, and beauty in any situation... golden hour, candlelight, overcast skies and all.
Creative
couple sessions
My passion is creating works of art you're proud to hang on your walls. I know some couples feel a little nervous in front of the camera, but it's really just about the two of you enjoying the moments together. I use subtle direction and posing craft to keep it fun and relaxed, creating a little ethereal beauty along the way... honed over 26 years into something that feels completely natural.
A different
perspective
I break the standard mold by approaching everything from a fresh angle, always looking for the shot no one else sees. The result is a gallery that feels uniquely yours: real moments and stunning frames, with no cookie-cutter formula.
Disappear into your day
I arrive early, stay quiet, and let your day breathe. My aim is to blend in so completely that you forget I'm there... because that's exactly when the real moments happen.
Chase the light
Golden hour, soft window light, candlelight at dinner... wherever the light is beautiful, that's where we'll be. I work with what's available to find the painterly quality that makes images feel timeless.
Edit with intention
Every gallery is hand-curated and edited with intention. Rich tones, gorgeous depth, and a consistent look that feels natural without looking like a filter. Photography worthy of canvas.
Deliver with love
Your online gallery arrives within 4–12 weeks, curated to tell the full story. Prints and handcrafted albums are available, a tangible feel that makes all the difference when looking back on your best memories.
